INFO FOR FIRST RESPONDERS

Location Description:
Big Salty Range, which is a private range North of the Lee Kay public range. It's the first right turn after the curve on the frontage road to Lee Kay, if you are heading Westbound down 1730 S where it turns off from 5600 W.

Address:
5850 West 1740 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84128

Classroom medical lockbox code : 1911 #

If a medical emergency occurs during a match:
- Get on the radio and call for medical personnel to your bay. Call for a ceasefire on the range. Use plain and clear language.

- Designate someone to call 911. DO NOT SAY THERE HAS BEEN A SHOOTING, THIS WILL DELAY CRITICAL MEDICAL HELP DUE TO POSSIBLE LEO RESPONSE. Instead, state that there has been an accident at a competition, and indicate that law enforcement is already on scene. Have them stay on the line and speak with clear language.

- Send a runner out to the gate to direct emergency responders.

- Someone close to the train horn should sound it to alert all squads to ceasefire.

- Have a runner work to clear cars, if necessary.

- If necessary, life flight helicopter will land in the parking lot in the most open spot by the berm. Smoke grenades can be found in the classroom lockbox. Code is 1911# .

- AEDs can be found by the classroom. Every Big Salty RO is trained on their usage, and videos are linked at the bottom of the page. RAPID AED DEPLOYMENT SAVES LIVES! Do not hesitate to retrieve and deploy the AED.

- Medical kits with bleed stop contents can be found in orange containers on almost every bay. If you have any medical training, please deploy the contents, or assist in providing them to someone who does have training and is responding.

If a medical emergency occurs during RO reservations/private event:

- If you are alone, try to signal for help from other ROs on the range. If unable, or alone, call 911 immediately. Give them the location and address first, so that responders can arrive as quickly as possible. This info is at the top of this page.

- If you are shooting alone that day, taking a minute to let others on the range know you are around might just save your life in the event of emergency.

- As with above, DO NOT TELL 911 THERE HAS BEEN A SHOOTING, THIS WILL DELAY CRITICAL MEDICAL HELP DUE TO POSSIBLE LEO RESPONSE. Instead, state that there has been an accident on the range. Stay on the line as long as possible, putting the phone on speaker if you must attend to your own injuries at the same time.

- After the immediate emergency has been dealt with and the situation is stable, contact a board member for the range and let them know what is going on.
