Range Officer Work List

Big Salty Range R.O. Work Projects To Keep R.O. Status

    • Time spent setting up stage’s for a regular scheduled club match that is posted on the Big Salty Calendar.
    • Time spent working on a State Championship Match for the benefit of the club hosting the match.
    • Time spent working at any USPSA level 2 or 3 Match of any kind or any sectional match.
    • Time spent managing a club as a SLPSA BOD , Big Salty BOD or any appointed club officers for any club that shoots at the range. Time for these positions Must! Still be logged in to the Big Salty Web site.

Time spent tearing down stages and doing regular match duties like being R.O. or score keeper will not count! ,this is part of the sport that you are competing in and regular match duties are expected from all shooters at Big Salty.

 

  • Pick up brass on any bay. Time spent ,bay or bay's brass was picked up on needs to be recorded along with a picture of your brass collection needs to be texted to 801-641-4397 before it will be accepted for range work hours.
  • Empty garbage cans on all 14 bays and pavilion into the dumpster in the middle of the range.
  • Walk around the range and pick up all loose garbage that has been blown around by the wind.
    • If you are the only one on the range and there is no live firing going on you can clean garbage off of the back berm and side berms.
  • Pick up all discarded shotgun hulls on all bays and put them in the garbage.
  • Clean up the front gate area.
    • Pick up and dispose of all garbage and material by the front gate.
    • Trim weeds and make the entrance to the range look good.
    • Fill in low spots from the paved road to the dirt road with dirt or gravel from the range that we will have on site.
  • There is a drainage ditch that runs from the Outhouse Bay to the south berm, there are pipes that drain the range of water that need to be cleared out on a regular basis.
    • Clean out the drainage ditch of any debris.
    • Pipes running under the road to the courthouse bay need to be clean and free of obstructions on both sides and need to have a hole dug if front of both ends of the drain pipes.
    • Exit pipe in the ditch at the south end of the range needs to be clear of any debris and have a have a hole dug in front of the drain.
  • Walk the range and return props to their proper home.
    • Barrels, Cowboy steel on the Courthouse, target stands and other miscellaneous items need to be returned to where they belong each week.
  • All railroad ties around the main drainage ditch have floated out of place and need to be put back around the drainage ditch.
  • All railroad ties need to be straightened and leveled throughout range.
  • Mine Shaft tin roof needs to be repaired or replaced.
  • Junk yard at the far East end of the range needs to be cleaned up.
    • Clean out all of the tumbleweeds and overgrown weeds.
    • Throw away anything unneeded junk. (If dumpster is full, please report.)
    • Organize and stack any useful material.
  • Loading Tables
    • Repair/replace all loading table tops and reinforce centers.
    • Rebuild/repair all roofs.
  • Repair and restack rocks and railroad ties at beginning of all berms.
  • Blue Bell Chapel Bay
    • Chapel needs new paint.
    • Fence in front needs repair and new paint.
    • There is a big hole in the roof that should be patched.
    • Pull down any remaining ceiling or wall boards to leave the studs exposed, right now it’s about half and half and looks bad.
    • Repair/reinforce railroad tie berm.
    • Build a new coffin at front door (paint in corresponding color).
  • Bank Bay
    • Repair window bars.
    • Repair safe surround.
    • Repair swinging doors.
    • Repaint as needed.
  • Mine bay
    • Repair and straighten several railroad tie walls.
    • Rebuild or discard railroad tie shaft at end of bay.
    • Close off side tunnel.
  • Train Bay
    • Move train.
    • Repaint ticket booth and surrounding props.
    • Reinforce railroad tie walls between bays.
    • Clean up entrance to buried trailer.
  • Dry Goods bay
    • Reinforce fold down windows with new hinges.
    • Paint
    • Discard destroyed railroad ties in dumpster.
  • Stagecoach Bay
    • Stack railroad ties and clean up entrance to buried trailer.
  • Hotel Bay
    • Remove railroad ties in ground.
  • Jail Bay
    • Remove and replace corrugated metal with wood slats from exterior of jail.
    • Repair window and door hinges.
    • Repair rain gutter.
    • Reinforce interior side table tops.
  • Cemetery Bay
    • Remake grave marker around posts.
    • Rework berm ends with rock and railroad ties.
  • Courthouse Bay
    • Fake brick façade on the front of the courthouse needs to be re-attached and fixed.
    • Either repair or dispose of broken spools.
    • Repair or add rain gutter.
  • 75 Yard Bay (Gallows)
    • Repair/maintain steel plate rack.
    • Remove all rocks from bay.
  • 100 Yard Bay
    • Remove all rocks/bricks/blocks from bay.
